MANILA, Philippines - A former child assassin of the Ampatuans has described Datu Unsay Mayor Andal Ampatuan Jr. as the worst of the warlord clan's leaders, claiming that the suspect in the November 23 massacre also abused and killed women who resisted him.

"Ang pinakasalbahe talaga sa kanila, itong si Unsay [Andal Jr.] Lalakad yun, pag di ka tumabi, sasampalin ka niya. Pag tiningnan mo siya tapos may dating ang pagkatao mo, patay ka talaga. Barilin ka niya," the assassin, alias "Abdul," said.

("The most abusive among them was Unsay. He would slap you if you did not get out of his way. If you looked at him in an overbearing way, you're dead. He'd kill you.")

Even married women were not spared, he claimed.

"Halimbawa, may asawa ako, nagustuhan nila, kukunin nila sa harapan ko. Pag ayaw kong pumayag, patay ako. Maraming beses iyan na nangyari. Pag napagtripan nila yung asawa, kukunin 'yong babae. 'Yong iba, di na lang pumapalag," he alleged.

("Example, if I have a wife they liked, they'd grab her right in front of me. If I oppose it, I'm dead. That happened many times. If he liked a married woman, she'd be forcibly taken. Some women no longer fought back.")

Abdul told ABS-CBN News in an exclusive interview aired on TV Patrol on Wednesday that he has killed hundreds for the Ampatuans. (Read: Ex-child assassin: 'I killed hundreds for the Ampatuans')

Abdul, who started working for the Ampatuans since he was only 10 years old, called on others who killed for the warlord clan to come out and tell the truth about the alleged atrocities.

CHR chief: More than terrorists

Commission on Human Rights (CHR) Chair Leila de Lima said she was shocked at the statements made by the self-confessed assassin of the Ampatuans.

"Unti-unti nang lumalabas ngayon yung kung gaano ka notorious or ka brazen yung mga criminality ng clan na yan," she told ABS-CBN News.

("Slowly, tales of their notoriety and brazenness are coming out, the criminality of that clan.")

She said she was surprised to hear the Ampatuans even used children as assassins.

"They're more than terrorists kasi walang tayong nakikitang ideological basis man lang dyan sa gawain na iyan. Walang ipinaglalaban na prinsipyo kung di...what. Plain ang simple lust for power and wealth," she said. "So, it's insanity."

De Lima said the CHR will be investigating the alleged incidents of mass murder and other killings in Maguindanao, and she plans to get Abdul as a witness.

Revenge?

Abdul now fears that the Ampatuans might take revenge against him for what he has disclosed.

Even though his name and age were not disclosed, Abdul said he knows that the Ampatuans are capable of silencing him.

Abdul said he decided to come forward and tell his story since his conscience was bothering him. He said he wants the Ampatuan clan, including its patriarch Andal Ampatuan Sr., to pay for what they have allegedly committed.

But the Bureau of Corrections has vowed to give security to their new important prisoner.

Meanwhile, the Mangudadatus said they were glad that Abdul has decided to speak up, and said there were others who can testify on the alleged killings of the Ampatuans.
