PH laments outcome of Doha climate talks
MANILA, Philippines - The Philippines lamented the low carbon reduction commitment that came out of the climate talks in Doha.
Only a few countries agreed to a second commitment period under the Kyoto Protocol to reduce carbon emissions, setting a reduction target of only 18 percent from 1990 levels by 2020.
The Climate Change Commission believes this is not enough to prevent a further increase in global temperatures.
"So overall, the Doha talks, based on the developing country perspective, is weak. We are still very hopeful that by next year this will improve."
