PNoy ends year on high note
MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) - President Benigno Aquino is ending the year on a high note after net satisfaction for his performance increased by two percentage points in the latest Social Weather Stations survey.
The latest SWS survey, conducted last December 2-3, showed Aquino's net satisfaction increasing from +56 last September to +58 this month. A total of 71% of respondents, or 7 out of 10 Filipinos, said they were satisfied with the President's performance compared to 13% who are dissatisfied.
The new satisfaction figures are the highest for Aquino this year, after dropping to +51 in March and +46 in June.
The new survey showed gains for Aquino among Metro Metro Manila(from +41 to +54) and Visayas respondents (+52 to +59).
It also increased among Class ABC (from +53 to +61) and Class E respondents (from +52 to +56).
The December 2011 Social Weather Survey was conducted from December 3-7, 2011 using face-to-face interviews of 1,200 adults in Metro Manila, the Balance of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. The survey used sampling error margins of ±3% for national percentages and ±6% for area percentages.
A Business World report, meanwhile, quoted Secretary Ramon A. Carandang of the Presidential Communications Development and Strategic Planning Office as saying that the President's higher net satisfaction rating is due to his campaign to weed out corruption and eliminate poverty.
Secretary Sonny Coloma of the Presidential Communications Operations Office also noted: “Our people are affirming their trust and confidence in the President’s leadership. They are rallying behind his call for good governance. They are witnessing concrete gains as an outcome of reforms in the economic, social… spheres." With a report from Business World
