Arroyo performance rating stays 'bad'
MANILA, Philippines - The Filipino public continues to be greatly dissatisfied with the performance of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
In the latest December 5-10 survey of the Social Weather Stations (SWS) disclosed on Tuesday, only 23% or 1 in 4 respondents were satisfied with Mrs. Arroyo's performance while nearly 2 in 3 respondents or 61% were dissatisfied.
This translates to a net dissatisfaction rating of minus 38, which the SWS classifies as "bad."
The polling outfit said dissatisfaction eased in Luzon, but worsened in Visayas and Mindanao.
"The net satisfaction rating of Pres. Arroyo rose by 10 points in Luzon outside Metro Manila, to -35 (24% satisfied, 59% dissatisfied) in December, from -45 (19% satisfied, 64% dissatisfied) in September," the SWS said.
"However, it worsened by 13 points in the Visayas, to -45 (21% satisfied, 66% dissatisfied) now, from -32 (26% satisfied, 58% dissatisfied) previously," it said. "It fell by 8 points in Mindanao, to a bad -35 (26% satisfied, 60% dissatisfied, correctly rounded) now, from a poor -27 (30% satisfied, 57% dissatisfied) before."
Urban dissatisfaction eased slightly from minus 44 in September to minus 40 in December, but rural dissatisfaction hardly changed at minus 35.
Although dissatisfaction eased among the upper income groups, the SWS said it was still at a bad minus 34 in December "from a very bad -54 in September."
"It stayed bad in class D or the masa, at -40 (22% satisfied, 62% dissatisfied) now, from -39 (23% satisfied, 62% dissatisfied) before. It also stayed bad in class E, at -35 (24% satisfied, 59% dissatisfied) now, from -34 (26% satisfied, 60% dissatisfied) before," the SWS said.
Dissatisfaction was unchanged among men and women with both sexes still dissatisfied with Mrs. Arroyo's performance.
The SWS survey used face-to-face interviews of 2,100 adults. It has a margin of error of plus/minus 2.2%.
It is a non-commissioned survey item and released by SWS as a public service, with first printing rights to BusinessWorld.

YES arroyo is worst
I was a young boy when martial law was declared, I grew-up watching my dad earn a living under Marcos. My dad and i have long talks with regards to doing business in the Philippines thinking that I will inherit the business when he pass away and thinking that Marcos or his family will rule the Philippines forever. He said that Marcos asks for 10% of everything, at that time it was considered bad already, so expect that every government deal is 10% bloated. At that time you only need to pay tribute to the Marcoses alone.
With the Arroyos?... lets get an example. I used to work in the telecoms and IT industry and I know for a fact that the ZTE-NBN deal would only cost US$70M (that’s nationwide already). But it was bloated to US$260M. I thought that 10% was bad, but 370% is clearly worst. During Marcos time the education system is the best now its the worst in history. During Marcos time, its taboo for common government employees to ask for grease money now its common practice.. This is arroyo’s legacy the culture of corruption that is endemic in the entire government structure.
Human Rights is an entirely different matter, Marcos had 20++ years, Arroyo had 9 but in terms of the number of disappearances and killing on a per year basis. Arroyo has exceeded Marcos’ number by a big margin.
Don’t compare Marcos with Arroyo and justify that you have lived thru both regimes, because there are those who can easily contradict your assertions with cold numbers.
With regards to an organized anti-arroyo force that blogs against GMA, I guess we only need to look at your screenname... “counterforce”. Sounds like its coming from an organized group that defends arroyo in blog sites.

SHE KNOWS IT WILL BE THE END OF HER IF SHE DECLARES MARTIAL LAW.

ARROYO GOVERNMENT INCURRED MORE DEBTS, MORE POOR FAMILIES, CHEATED ELECTIONS AND WE HAVE THE BIGGEST BUDGET DEFICIT.

If you have not lived through the time of Marcos then you best shut up and study your history again. I have got to admire her circle of enemies and their media partners for their successful campaign to project PGMA in the worst possible light among the people. I would believe that these reactions from "readers" (assuming these are not part of the organized effort at PGMA-bashing) are so typical of what you will encounter across all print and internet publications.
SWS? Pulse Asia? These outfits are obviously infested with anti-PGMA bias. They will never regain the credibility they lost long ago.

I bet that there are lots of people who say she is the best, all the one she filled the pockets and all the Ampatuans and the other clans, all the corrupt politicians and officials.
It now in your hands, voters, show her how much you want to get rid of her, keep her out of power also in Pampangas, help her to go into early retirement. Maybe she can do some social work as she said, she would like to help the poor and needed .............it makes me sick when I hear B.S. like that. That way she cant get any cash into her swiss bankaccount.

She even beats former President Marcos on that title.
