'ARMM gov in the Palace during massacre'
MANILA, Philippines - A Malacañang official confirmed Wednesday that suspended Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) governor Zaldy Ampatuan was attending a Lakas-Kampi-CMD meeting at the Palace while more than 50 people were being massacred in Maguindanao province last November 23.
"We are not surprised about that because there really was a Lakas meeting. Governor Zaldy Ampatuan was [among] those who were present at the meeting," Press Secretary Cerge Remonde told radio dzMM.
In his formal response to allegations of his involvement in the massacre, Ampatuan said President Arroyo herself can vouch for his innocence because he was with her while the gruesome crime was being committed.
The governor said he and Congressmen Yusop Jikiri and Munir Arbison, and other political leaders of Sulu province, were with Mrs. Arroyo discussing how the administration could resolve the 2010 electoral contests in the province of Sulu.
The suspended governor added that he learned of the massacre after a call from somebody, which took place after the meeting with Mrs. Arroyo.
Remonde, however, said that Ampatuan's claim that Mrs. Arroyo can vouch for his innocence is an "exaggerated" attempt to clear his name from the allegations.
"Medyo may pagka-exaggerated ang statement na iyan para lamang to prove his innocence (That statement seems exaggerated just to prove his innocence). Anyway, the case is now duly investigated and the judiciary has promised a speedy [trial]," the press secretary said, adding that Mrs. Arroyo briefly attended the meeting.
He said it would be up to the Department of Justice to decide whether there is a probable cause to bring the murder charges filed against the governor to the courts.
Remonde also said Mrs. Arroyo has yet to consult her legal consultants on whether or not to respond to the ARMM governor's claim.
Severed relationship
Remonde, meanwhile, insisted that President Arroyo has already severed her ties with the Ampatuans because of the massacre.
"Whatever cordiality and friendship [Mrs. Arroyo had with the Ampatuans] are no longer there... The Ampatuans are now being considered by the Palace like any other Filipinos, Filipino suspects in particular," he said.
Days after the massacre, President Arroyo's former deputy spokesperson, Lorelei Fajardo, told reporters in a press conference in Malacañang that she remained friends with the Ampatuans, who had been loyal members of the Lakas political party.
The statement came after the Lakas-Kampi-CMD expelled the ARMM governor and the clan patriarch, former Maguindanao governor Andal Ampatuan Sr., from the party.
The Ampatuans have been the administration's most important allies in the ARMM, particularly in Maguindanao province.
Fajardo has been reassigned as Mrs. Arroyo's adviser in Central Luzon.

I wouldnt be surprised if Ampatuan actually updated Gloria of the developments as they happened. And then Gloria issued this order "Do what ever it takes to stop the convoy", To which the Ampatuan actually did. It's like ordering the killing herself. She is evil pure and simple evil. If you have been in one of the meetings of Gloria you will know. If you have ever seen how her lapdogs strutt around her you would know exactly that this is what happened. It would have been a blast if there is an actual cellphone video or recording of the exchange.

For all of the Witnesses, no one mentioned that the Governor is with them during the Massacre but they mentioned that Mayor Ampatuan is talking to Governor Ampatuan on the Phone and Mayor Ampatuan is communicating everything to him all the Time. Those murderous ampatuans, did all the planing of the gruesome killing of the 57 ( maybe even more ) innocent victims. They should now be presented with the bill: Life in prison without a chance of parol, better even some prisoners cut their throads and save the country a lot of money.
The planing was done weeks in advance, knowing that he would be in the palace then and what better people to give you an alibi as other corrupt politicians and officials.

Nakakasuka ang mga press release ng mga alipores ni Gloria Arroyo mapagtakpan lang ang kabahuan ng mga Ampatuan. Nakakahiya na pagkatapos ng masaker, biglang intrada ang "magaling" na si Lorelie Fajardo na sabihing nananatiling kaibigan ni Arroyo ang mga Ampatuan kahit pa sangkot sila sa pagpatay sa kulang lang na 60 tao sa Maguindanao. Heto naman si Remonde, ang dakilang taga "KAHOL" ng Malakanyang na sasabihing nasa Malakanyang si Zaldy Ampatuan ng mangyari ang krimen. Anak ng teteng ang dalawang bugok na ito. Alam ng mga tao kung bakit kailangang panatilihin ang pagiging "kaibigan" ng mga Ampatuan, baka nga naman biglang kumanta si Ampatuan ng "Dahil sa Amin" at mabulgar ang conspiracy nila nina Garci sa nakaraang eleksyon sa Maguindano, kaya ganun na lang ang pagpo promote ni Lorelie Fajardo na ok ang samahan ng admionistrasyon at mga Ampatuan. Ito namang si Remonde na malapit ng mawalan ng trabaho sa Malakanyang, hayon, tudo depensa din kay Zaldy Ampatuan na kesyo nasa Malakanyang naman ng mangyari ang krimen.
