Woman in alleged MRT suicide try named
MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) - The woman who allegedly tried to commit suicide by jumping in front of an incoming Metro Rail Transit coach has been named.
MRT general manager Al Vitangcol III identified the woman as Rica Fernandez, 28.
Fernandez allegedly tried to commit suicide by jumping in front of the train at the MRT Shaw Boulevard station southbound route past 11 a.m. Thursday.
MRT operations were disrupted after Fernandez's leg was pinned under the train. A radio dzMM report said rescuers retrieved her from under the train and rushed her to the Polymedic General Hospital where her leg was amputated.
MRT operations were immediately restored after the incident.
