Friends, classmates mourn death of UST med student
MANILA -- Friends and classmates took to social networking sites to express their sadness and disbelief over the sudden death of University of Santo Tomas (UST) 2nd year medical student Kelvin Discutido, whose body was found inside his apartment at the University Belt in Manila on Tuesday.
Discutido, a medical technology magna cum laude graduate, was 21.
His body was discovered after some of his classmates decided to visit him in his apartment after Discutido failed to attend his classes for two consecutive days.
The cause of Discutido's death has yet to be known. An autopsy will still have to be conducted, authorities said.
Based on the initial investigation of police, there was no sign of forced entry inside the student's room. His room's door and windows were all locked.
The student, who hails from Binangonan, Rizal, was last seen on Saturday, January 4.
On Discutido's Facebook page, friends, former and current classmates and schoolmates expressed shock to the news of his death, with some reminiscing their last encounter with the 21-year-old medical student.
Bernadette Tirados said, "Rest in peace Kelvin Discutido. Sobrang nakakalungkot at nakakabigla ang pagkawala mo."
Likewise, NM Venus said, "Sobrang nalungkot naman ako. Salamat sa huling mensahe kelly. For sure mamimiss ko ung likes and comments mo. Paalam."
"Rest in peace kelvin. Still can't believe that you're gone. Mamimiss namin mga ngiti at tawa mo," said Ekimhael Perez.
Some also expressed regret, noting the good heart of aspiring doctor Discutido.
"Baket ikaw pa Kelvin? Ang dame mo pang taong pwedeng matulungan, isa ka sa mga tinitingala ko kasi napatunayan mo from the very beginning na ur worth it! elementary to college honor student ka na! sayang!" Girlie Sanga said.
Paul Anthony Cruz said, "Rest in Peace KELVIN, sa kaunting oras at panahon na nagkasama tayo, at sa paghingi-hingi mo ng payo tungkol sa pagibig, dun nakilala ko ang isang KELVIN DISCUTIDO, na may kabutihan ang kalooban at marunong makipagkapwa tao."
John Wendell Erana, for his part, said: "Lage mong sinasabe saken na kapag Med ka na, magaaral kapa ng Fisheries at ipagpapatuloy mo ang kabuhayan nyo ng tatay mo... Hindi ko makakalimutan ang masasayang moment natin lalo nung Christmas at New Year. Yun na pala ang huli nating pagsasama ng pasko:'( I will miss you Friend Kelvin."
