Cab driver stabbed to death in Tandang Sora
MANILA, Philippines – A bloodied taxi driver was found dead inside his car along an unlit portion of Daffodil Street in Barangay Tandang Sora, Quezon City just a little past midnight on Sunday.
The victim was identified as Rogelio Franco, who’s been driving a cab for Ganal Transit Service for two years already.
Witness Mark Palomar said he was alarmed when he noticed the cab parked along the dark street.
"May taxi na nagba-backing diyan nagbaba ng pasahero. Nung pagalis ng pasahero hindi na siya umalis kaya naghinala na lang ako,” he said.
Asked if he saw the faces of Franco’s last passengers, he said: “Makikita mo lang 'yung suot, naka-cap, pero hindi mo makikilala kasi madilim sa lugar na ito. Mabilis 'yung lakad nila nagmamadali."
Hours before the murder, Franco was with one of his fellow drivers Jojo Bermudez.
According to Bermudez, Franco told him that he would still pick up passengers since his boundary was not yet enough then.
"Sa tingin ko holdap ito dahil walang namang itong kaaway. Hindi naman babantayan yan kung hindi ihoholdap iyan eh," he said.
While there was still money left inside the cab, the police are also eyeing robbery as the motive behind the crime.
The knife used to stab Franco was also recovered in the crime scene. – from a report by Bettina Magsaysay, ABS-CBN News
