Cop nabbed for gun-poking at EDSA flyover
MANILA, Philippines – A police officer was arrested for allegedly poking his gun at a motorist during a traffic altercation at the EDSA-Kamuning flyover on Wednesday morning.
PO2 Joven Altobar Janeiro, a police officer assigned to the Anti-Kidnapping Group in Camp Crame, allegedly poked his gun at a motorcycle rider.
The victim said Janeiro got irked after their motorcycles hit each other while traversing the flyover.
He said Janeiro drew his 9mm pistol and pointed it at him.
Janeiro, who was in civilian clothes, was arrested by policemen from the nearby Quezon City Police District – Station 10.
For his part, Janeiro denied brandishing his gun and claimed that it was the motorcycle rider who punched him first.
The victim decided not to file charges against Janeiro. He said he is leaving the matter up to the police.
Police said Janeiro violated the election gun ban for bringing a firearm even if he is not on duty. – report from Johnson Manabat, dzMM
