154 face raps for violating gun ban

MANILA, Philippines – The police have apprehended 154 violators of the election gun ban almost two weeks since the policy went into effect.

The Philippine National Police's Task Force Safe and Fair Elections (SAFE) said those apprehended include two policemen, four government employees, five security personnel and 143 civilians.

At least 139 firearms, 10 grenades, 49 bladed weapons, 2 airsoft guns and 186 ammunition were confiscated by the PNP since January 13, the first day of the implementation of the policy.

The nationwide election gun ban will last until June 12, also the last day of the election period. – report from Edwin Sevidal, dzMM
