Manila fires raze 20 homes
MANILA, Phiilppines – At least 20 homes were razed in two fire incidents in Manila before dawn on Friday.
An unattended candle inside the house of a certain Lita de Toro allegedly triggered the fire along Mayhaligue Street in Sta. Cruz district past 1 a.m.
At least 20 families living in 10 houses were rendered homeless in the fire which lasted for about 30 minutes.
Meanwhile, another fire in Sampaloc district also left at least 10 houses razed.
The fire, which occurred along Bohol Street, began past 2 a.m. allegedly in the apartment of a certain Maricris.
Authorities have yet to determine the cause of the blaze, but they noted that the area had no electricity.
No one was reported injured in the two fire incidents. The cost of damage from both fires was pegged at around P800,000.
