2 taxi robbers shot dead in Manila

MANILA, Philippines – The police killed 2 suspected robbers in Manila before dawn Wednesday.

Taxi driver Regente Osalla said the two robbers pretended to be passengers, before robbing him of his wallet, driver’s license and his day’s earnings worth P2,000.

The suspects were killed at around 3 a.m. in a police operation along Santa Clara Street, Sta. Ana district after Osalla immediately reported the incident.

Manila Police District Station 6 chief Superintendent Remegio Sedanto said the suspects immediately fired shots at the approaching police. Sedanto said the police were forced to fire back.

Police recovered from the unidentified suspects a 22-caliber pistol, a 38-caliber pistol, a bag, and Osalla’s belongings. – report from Francis Faulve, ABS-CBN News
