MANILA, Philippines – A 25-year-old man was killed after being electrocuted in Quezon City, Wednesday night.

The victim, identified as Nelson David, was picking mangoes from a 2-storey-high tree when he was electrocuted.

According to witness John Jomar Macayo, David asked permission to pick mangoes from a tree.

Macayo said he then heard the sound of electric sparks, which prompted him to check on David.

"Narinig ko ‘yung kuryente. Dinungaw ko, nakita ko siya nga. Pagbaba ko sunod na siyang bumagsak," he said.

David, who works as a gardener in a subdivision in Quezon City, was believed to have been picking mangoes for his family and girlfriend.

"Kumukuha siya ng mangga, baka dadalhin sa pamilya niya, sa girlfriend niya," said Macayo.

Authorities, meanwhile, refused to give a statement on the incident.
