Newbie cop faces raps for slapping minor
MANILA, Philippines – A newbie policeman was arrested after a closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera caught him slapping a teenager in Manila.
Police Officer 1 (PO1) Ronald Allan Martin, a tourist police from Manila, is facing a charge of child abuse after slapping and threatening to shoot 17-year-old “Philip” before dawn on February 4.
The CCTV footage showed a motorcycle-riding Martin confronting Philip, who was cleaning the front of the house owned by the Villanueva family in Gagalangin, Tondo.
Martin surrendered himself to the police after the footage was released to the media.
Martin was allegedly drunk when the confrontation occurred.
Philip said he has no intention of withdrawing his charges against Martin. – report from Maan Macapagal, ABS-CBN News
