MANILA, Philippines - The family of Noel Orate Sr., who was shot dead in the home of his partner, Nanette Castelo Daza, wants the former Quezon City lawmaker to release CCTV footage of the incident.

The victim's son, Noel Orate Jr., was furious when he faced the media on Tuesday.

He is demanding justice for his father, who was shot dead last Friday.

He said Daza should release footage from the crime scene.

"Hinahamon ko si ex-Congresswoman Nanette Daza na ilabas na lamang ang CCTV nila sa bahay para malaman kung ano ang katotohanan sa nangyari. May mga security sila doon. Paano mangyayari yung binabanggit nila?" he said.

The Orate family also urged authorities to elevate the case to murder.

Daza's son-in-law, Bulacan board member Romeo Allan Robes, is the suspect in the shooting.

Their lawyers have responded to Orate's challenge.

Atty. Alfredo Villamor said their camp will release any footage but he claimed that none was taken.

Robes posted bail Monday night.

In a press conference by members of the Amoranto Tennis Club, they said Daza and Orate Sr. were with them in a party, where they noticed something different.

Jun Bilbao, a former president of the club, said he had heard from Orate Sr. that he wanted to reconcide with Daza.

He said Orate Sr. had also been drinking.

Jimmy Danao, another member of the club who was present in the party, said Orate Sr. was depressed and seemed suicidal.

Orate's family is not convinced, claiming they have witnesses and evidence against Daza's camp.

"Ang alam ko, divided na sa dalawang grupo yang mga tennis club members na iyan. Ang nakikita ko dito ay proteksyon nila yan para kay Castelo -Daza," Orate Jr. said.

The Orate family has filed a motion to defer arraignment for a reinvestigation, and to raise the charges against Robes from homicide to murder.

They have also also requested for a hold departure order be issued against Robes. - report from Doland Castro, ABS-CBN News; ANC
