Election gun ban violators rise to 1,041

MANILA, Philippines -- The number of election gun ban violators has climbed to 1,041, according to the Philippine National Police (PNP).

The Philippine National Police (PNP) Task Force Secure and Fair Elections (SAFE) 2013 said 5 soldiers, 13 policemen, 64 security guards, 2 CAFGU members, 14 government officials and 945 civilians have been arrested since the gun ban was implemented last January 13.

Police have also confiscated a total of 1,009 firearms, 5,047 bullets, 43 grenades, 174 other explosives, 28 airsoft guns and 261 bladed weapons. -- Report from Edwin Sevidal, dzMM
