400 families lose homes in Valenzuela fire
MANILA -- An estimated 400 families lost their homes in a fire in De Gula Compound in General T. De Leon, Valenzuela City Wednesday afternoon.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) - Valenzuela said the blaze started in the home of a certain Randy Miguel past 12 noon.
The fire quickly spread because most of the houses were made of light materials.
It reached Task Force Alpha before it was declared out at around 2:45 p.m.
Authorities suspect the fire was caused by Miguel's three-year-old child who was playing with a match inside their house.
Two people were reported injured in the incident.
The cost of damage is estimated at around P1 million.
Displaced residents are temporarily seeking shelter at the area's covered court. -- Report from Robert Mano, dzMM
