MANILA, Philippines – A total of 2,877 jobseekers were hired on the spot in 40 job fairs conducted nationwide in January by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
“This is just the first month of the year. The Department has still many job fairs to come. We expect more job applicants will be hired-on-the-spot in the next job fairs which we will conduct year round,” said DOLE Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz.
DOLE’s job fairs, aimed to fast track the meeting of jobseekers and employers, are open to all job applicants.
“A job fair is the DOLE's response to requests for employment assistance. It has become a means of reaching out to the unemployed, giving them access to available job opportunities,” said Baldoz.
DOLE said the 40 job fairs in January registered 21,385 job applicants for the 70,651 vacancies offered by 621 employers/establishments.
