Militant groups, police clash over CARP
MANILA -- Militant groups clashed with police forces after protesters attempted to take their rally inside the House of Representatives on Wednesday morning.
Armed with arnis sticks and shields, the policemen blocked the entry of protesters.
But some were able to grab the sticks and started hitting the policemen with their own sticks.
Militant groups came together to protest the extended Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) and Charter change.
Just this Monday, the lower House approved at the committee level a resolution seeking to amend economic provisions of the Constitution.
This includes lifting restrictions on foreign ownership of land, military bases and troops.
Militants said this is a move to open the country's gates to colonization.
