MMDA to lift number coding Tuesday
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will temporarily lift the number coding for private vehicles to lessen the number of people who might get stranded due to the scheduled transport strike Tuesday, ABS-CBN News reported.
MMDA Chairman Bayani Fernando, however, said if the strike is cancelled, the agency will continue to implement the Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program.
The Metro-wide transport strike on Tuesday is expected to paralyze public transportation by 100 percent, according to one of the organizers Monday.
Roberto Martin, Pasang Masda national president, said they would attain a complete public transport stoppage because almost all transport workers have signified their intention to join the strike.
“Based on our numbers, I think there will be 100 percent paralyze (of transport) in Metro Manila and this is not only jeeps but also buses, tricycles, and even truckers will join the strike,” Martin told ABS-CBN’s morning show “Umagang Kay Ganda.”
