DOJ clears shipping magnate from Barrameda slay case
MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Justice (DOJ) has cleared shipping magnate Lope Jimenez from the kidnapping and murder of a former actress' sister in 2007.
In a resolution, the justice department dismissed the charges against Jimenez for lack of probable cause.
Jimenez's lawyer, Ferdinand Topacio said the DOJ was persuaded by his petition for review, which proved that his client was not on speaking terms with his brother, lawyer Manuel Jimenez II, and could not have conspired in the celebrated Ruby Rose Barrameda kidnap-slay case.
Barrameda went missing in March 2007 while on her way to visit her two children, whose custody has been given by the court to her husband, Manuel "Third" Jimenez III, who is a son of Jimenez II.
The body of the victim, who is a sister of former beauty queen and actress Rochelle Barrameda, was found last year concealed in a cemented steel case and buried in the murky waters of Navotas, located near the shipping firm of Jimenez.
The other two Jimenezes, Jimenez II and Jimenez III, were also respondents to the murder complaint filed by the police.
Topacio, meanwhile, said the shipping magnate was not yet totally cleared from the murder case.
He said the Barramedas may still ask the Court of Appeals to intervene and ask for a review of the DOJ's resolution. -- Report from ANC

Once again our DOJ have lost thier sense of duty, and took the road to corruption,and i wonder HOW MUCH SECRETARY DEVENADERA GOT FROM THIS CASE.. since the proboble cause,and a reliable state witness,pointing this heinous crime to this animals,and YET !!!! the DOJ, cameup with their own judgment...IT IS SAD, REALLY SAD, THAT OUR CHILDREN ARE WITNESSING THIS FORM OF JUSTICE, on which the DOJ serves as a judge,on matters that involves not just the BARRAMEDA'S ,but our own brand of justice...It is so sad to know the outcome of this crime, that the JIMENEZ will exhaust,delay and bribe those people in power, to get this crime downplayed into a civil litigation...HINDI BOBO ANG PILIPINO SEC. DEVENADERA...MAGNANAKAW KA,it is the same argument you made of that stupid and idiotic MOA-AD, that killed so many and destryed livelyhood to so many...,.
