MANILA – Metro Manila sizzled at 34.4 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, making it the hottest day so far this year.

Weather bureau PAGASA said the temperature rose to 34 degrees Celsius at around 3 p.m.

Metro Manila weather is also expected to be warm on Wednesday due to the “heat island effect.”

Easterly winds from the Pacific Ocean are also expected to cause warm weather.

PAGASA has yet to declare the start of the summer season because certain criteria have yet to be met, which include the presence of the northeast monsoon or “amihan” and easterlies from the Pacific Ocean.
