2-year-old allegedly killed by godparents
MANILA – A man and his live-in partner were arrested after allegedly killing their 2-year-old goddaughter in Quezon City last Friday.
The victim's mother, Lea Gonzalena, said she asked Edwin Arcala and Jefrel Tubiano last Friday to look after her daughter while she worked.
Gonzalena said she later received news that day that her daughter figured in an accident. The victim died the following day at the hospital due to a traumatic head injury.
Arcala, who let Gonzalena and her daughter stay in his house, claimed that the victim hit her head after falling from a stack of boxes.
Gonzalena did not buy Arcala's claim, saying she had seen the couple hurt her daughter once.
Arcala and Tubiano were arrested Sunday for murder charges.
Arcala is also facing a charge of illegal drug possession after he was caught with shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride). – report from Carolyn Bonquin, ABS-CBN News
