MPD chief goes after absentee cops
MANILA -- Some officers and personnel of Manila Police Department (MPD) are in hot water after MPD District Director Chief Supt. Rolando Asuncion conducted a surprise inspection Monday morning.
Upon inspection, Asuncion found out that more than 100 police officers who were supposed to be on duty cannot be found.
He asked the General Assignment Section of MPD to investigate the matter and submit a report on the whereabouts of the police officers.
A similar incident occurred in the past wherein some policemen only go went to report to work to claim their salaries.
Asuncion also asked the the MPD's traffic office to place a checkpoint in front of the MPD gates to ensure that all personnels' motorcycles are properly registered. -- report from Noel Alamar, DZMM
