Parts of Manila, QC to have waterless weekend

The Maynilad Water Services Inc. on Wednesday said some portions of Manila and Quezon City will experience a 16-hour cut in water supply on April 5.

Maynilad said the water interruption will start from 1 a.m. until 5 p.m.

This will be done to allow the company to change the 900-mm gate valve of the existing 1200-mm mainline located on Quezon Avenue near the Mabuhay Rotunda ; repair the Algeciras Pumping Station along Algeciras Street corner España St. in Manila; connect the 300-mm stub-out in the existing 120-mm mainline on P. Florentino St. corner Blumentritt, Manila; and change the defective 500-mm gate valve in Abad Santos near the corner of Antipolo St., also in Manila.

In Manila, the affected areas will be Dimasalang, Andalucia, España, Macaraig and Blumentritt, Sampaloc; España, Antipolo, Lepanto, Matimyas, Sto. Tomas and Josefina III, Sampaloc; Andalucia Mayhaligue, Rizal Avenue, North Cemetery down to Dimasalang, Sta. Cruz; Rizal Avenue, Mayhaligue, E. Remigio, Quezon Boulevard, C.M. Recto, Estero dela Reina, Dagupan Ext., (Railroad), and a portion of Solis; C.M. Recto, Rizal Ave., Pasig River and Quezon Blvd.

In Quezon City, the affected areas will those along España, including United Doctors Medical Center Hospital.

The company added that residents may experience low pressure to no water at all in the areas bounded by Lepanto, Matimyas, Sto. Tomas, Fajardo, Lealtad and Antipolo in Manila; and Sto. Tomas, E. Rodriguez, Matimyas, and Josefina III in Quezon City.

Affected residents are advised to store water enough to last the 16-hour interruption. They may also call the Maynilad Water Hotline at 1626 or 434-2000 or text Maynilad 2898.
