MANILA -- Workers from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) unearthed two old cannons while they were working on a drainage system in Muelle de la Industria in Juan Luna Street, Binondo, Manila.
The cannons weigh a ton each, and are about three meters long.
One of the cannons was removed by a backhoe, while the Manila Police District (MPD) Bomb Squad is still waiting for a bigger truck to remove the other cannon.
Chief Inspector Arnold Santos, MPD Bomb Squad chief, said workers found Spanish-era cannons.
He said they will turn over the cannons to Camp Crame, which will decide where the cannons will be displayed.
Meanwhile, an old machine gun was also discovered at Araullo High School in Manila last week.
Officials of the MPD Bomb Squad are also planning to display the weapon in their headquarters. -- report from Zhander Cayabyab, dzMM
