P84-M worth of shabu seized at NAIA Terminal 1
MANILA, Philippines – A Malaysian national was arrested Wednesday for smuggling P84 million worth of shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) at the terminal 1 of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
Initial information stated that a Malaysian national identified as Lim Tim Chong arrived at the NAIA Terminal 1 onboard Malaysian Airlines flight MH 704 from Kuala Lumpur.
The suspect was apprehended while collecting his luggage.
According to Customs Collector Tess Roque, they coordinated with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the office of Airport General Manager Atty. Melvin Matibag regarding the arrival of the suspect.
Roque said the suspect’s baggage contained high grade shabu valued at P6 million per kilo. The shabu was placed inside 7 small packets weighing more than 14 kilos.
PDEA is now conducting follow-up operation identify the suspect’s other cohorts.
