Failon's household helpers taken into police custody
Police on Thursday afternoon took into custody three household helpers of ABS-CBN news anchor Ted Failon from his house in Quezon City.
The three helpers were Carlota Morbos, Wilfreda Bollicer, Glen Pola and Pacifico Apacible.
Reports said the household helpers were taken to the Quezon City Police District's headquarters in Camp Caringal for inquest proceedings on obstruction of justice charges.
The helpers were taken after police crime scene investigators reexamined Failon's home and inspected an "extensive crime scene." The inspection was conducted past noon.
Chief Superintendent Roberto Rosales, Metro Manila police chief, earlier announced that all of the people inside Failon's home in Tierra Pura Subdivision, Tandang Sora, Quezon City, were being treated as suspects in the possible killing of the news anchor's wife, Trinidad Arteche Etong.
Failon said he found his wife "lying in a pool of blood" inside the bathroom of their daughter’s bedroom Wednesday morning.
In a three-page sworn statement he executed Wednesday night, Apacible admitted wiping clean the blood from on the bathroom's floor after Mrs. Etong was rushed to New Era General Hospital.
Apacible, who said he is a relative of Mrs. Etong and works as a pool cleaner for the news anchor's family, said he and Bollicer were the ones who cleaned the blood at the bathroom.
He also admitted taking the gun allegedly used by Mrs. Etong in the attempted suicide from the bathroom. He said he returned the gun -- a .380 Walther PPK -- to its hiding place, which they call the "dresser" at the house's master bedroom.
