Bro. Roly Dizon's remains at LSGH
MANILA, Philippines – The remains of former De La Salle University (DLSU) president Bro. Rolando “Roly” Dizon lie in state at the National Shrine of the Divine Child in La Salle Greenhills (LSGH).
Necrological masses will be held for Dizon from April 26 until April 28.
His remains will be cremated on April 29 at 10:30 a.m. at Loyola Memorial Chapels in Guadalupe, Makati, and interred at the De La Salle Brothers Memorial Cloister in the La Salle Novitiate in Lipa City, Batangas at 3:30 p.m.
The 67-year-old Dizon, who was also chair of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) passed away at 7:09 p.m. Wednesday after years of battling colon cancer.
He was confined in the Intensive Care Unit of De La Salle University Medical Center in Dasmariñas City, Cavite, and was in a coma before he died.
“Thank you for the support and prayers of the Lasallian Family in the past few days. Today, Br. Roly is resting with Lord and your continuing prayers will be much appreciated,” said Br. Ricky Laguda FSC, Sector Leader of the De La Salle Brothers of the Philippines, in a statement.
Dizon, born on October 31, 1944, was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2003.
He served as chairman of CHED from 2003 to 2004, and was co-founder of the National Movement for Free Elections. He was also a member of the Consultative Commission on Charter Change in 2005.
