MANILA, Philippines – The family of Arnel Leonor, the man who was killed in Monday's violent demolition at Silverio Compound in Parañaque City hopes justice will be served.

The National Bureau of Investigation's (NBI) Medico-Legal Division has told Leonor’s father, Juanito, about the findings of the autopsy done on his son.

The autopsy report reveals that Leonor was shot at close-range.

The victim’s father does not believe one of his neighbors could have shot his son.

"Kahit mag-ikot kayo sa amin, ang anak ko walang nakaaway sa barangay, walang record, kaya imposibleng babarilin ng mga kasamahan niya ‘yun,” he said.

Leonor’s uncle said they have a witness who can testify that the victim was facing policemen before he was shot.

“Nakaharap daw sila sa pulis,” said Mario Leonor.

Parañaque Police are leaving it up to the NBI to investigate Leonor's shooting and determine whether police used excessive force against residents.

Police are confident that they will be cleared of any wrongdoing especially since the NBI has said the bullet that killed Leonor came from a low-caliber firearm.

SWAT team members were carrying armalites during the demolition attempt.

“Ang mga baril na nakita sa video are M16 rifles. Ngayon lumalabas na ang bala is small caliber,” said Sr. Supt. Billy Beltran, chief of Parañaque Police.

On Wednesday, the NBI conducted crime scene recreation to determine Leonor’s exact location when he was shot.

Investigators have also talked to residents of Silverio Compound to find witnesses. -- ANC
