MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED)  – A man, reportedly driven by jealousy, took hostage his own child in Navotas City on Saturday night.

DZMM correspondent Dexter Ganibe reported that the suspect, identified as Allan Camaligue, 32, took his 11-month-old baby girl at knife-point in front of an automotive shop located along North Bay Boulevard.

Camaligue threatened to kill the baby and commit suicide due to suspicions his wife was having an affair.

Police Officer 2 (PO2) Generoso Gagabica of the Navotas City Police said Camaligue’s stepfather rushed to the scene to pacify the suspect.

The suspect, however, tried to escape by boarding a vehicle, taking along the baby.

Gagabica leapt into the vehicle to stop Camaligue while bystanders pulled the baby away from the suspect.

The baby was immediately taken to the Tondo General Hospital due to stab wounds.

Camaligue is currently detained at the Navotas City Police headquarters.
