MANILA, Philippines – Thirty-eight health workers collectively known as Morong 43 were transferred from a military camp in Rizal to a police facility in Taguig, radio dzMM reported Saturday.

Radio dzMM reporter Dexter Ganibe said the group was moved to the Metro Manila District Jail Facility in Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig from Camp Capinpin in Tanay, Rizal.

The group comprise 23 females and 15 males. The women were on board a military bus while the men rode in a military truck.

Ganibe said most of the handcuffed health workers wore white t-shirts and maong pants.

The group’s transfer was in compliance with the Commitment Order issued by Judge Amorfina Cerrado-Cezar of the Regional Trial Court Branch 78 last April 23.

Five others remain at the Tanay military camp and are allegedly standing in as government witnesses against the group.

Meanwhile, the families of the suspected rebels staged a picket rally in front of the gate of Camp Bagong Diwa.

Romeo Clamor, husband of one of those arrested and detained, is happy about the transfer.

“Malaking bagay po ito sa amin at sa aming mga kamaganak dahil ito po ang malinaw na sinasabi ng batas na dalhin sila sa isang civilian detention center at hindi ipiit sa isang military camp,” Clamor said.
