NBI urges Deniece, 2 others to surrender
MANILA - The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Friday urged model Deniece Cornejo and 2 other suspects in the mauling of actor and TV host Vhong Navarro to surrender.
NBI National Capital Region director Efren Meneses believes that Cornejo, Ferdinand Guerrero, and Jed Fernandez are still in the country.
He said it would be better for the 3 to give themselves up to authorities.
Meneses said the NBI is receiving information from concerned citizens who tell them where the 3 have been spotted.
Cornejo, Guerrero, and Fernandez are only 3 of the 7 accused in the controversial mauling of the actor.
Other suspects include businessman Cedric Lee, Simeon "Zimmer" Raz, Bernice Lee, and Jose Paolo Calma.
Arrest warrants for serious illegal detention were issued by the Taguig Regional Trial Court against the group, with the exception of Bernice and Calma.
Cedric Lee and Raz have been arrested in Eastern Samar, while Calma is believed to have fled the country.
The NBI considers Cornejo and the others who have not surrendered as fugitives. - report from Zyann Ambrosio, ABS-CBN News
