MANILA, Philippines - Elements of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) intelligence operatives arrested on Thursday morning an Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) member wanted for involvement in several high profile kidnappings in 2001 in Mindanao.

The Abu Sayyaf member was identified as Imam Arabani Jakiran.

Reports said Jakiran was working as a security guard when he was arrested at Pacific Plaza Hotel in Global City, Taguig.

He has a P350,000 reward for his arrest, reports said.

Police Director General Raul M. Bacaldo said the arrest of Jakiran was in line with the government’s intensified manhunt against members of the al Qaeda linked-ASG and Jemaah Islamiyah members. With reports from Gus Abelgas, ABS-CBN News
