Militants denounce US submarine 'visit'
MANILA, Philippines - Activists today criticized Malacanang for not knowing about the United States submarine port visit in Subic.
They held a protest march this morning along Kalaw St. and moved towards the US Embassy, but they were quickly blocked by the police near Roxas Boulevard.
The protesters held a program denouncing the port visit of the nuclear powered submarine USS North Carolina in Subic, Zambales.
Rosanna Villegas, spokesperson for the Kilusan Para sa Pambansang Demokrasya, said the submarine port visit is an indication of the US using the China-Philippine dispute to send more troops to the Philippines and expand its influence in the region.
She said it was a reckless decision by the government, which will further strain relations with China.
