An estimated 300 families are set to spend the night in an evacuation center, and some in the streets, after a fire razed their houses in Pasig City on Monday night.

The fire, which started 8:30 p.m., razed about 50 houses in Barangay San Antonio in Pasig City. The blaze lasted for more than an hour before it was declared “fire out” by responding firefighters.

Probers are reportedly eyeing faulty electrical wiring in one of the burnt houses as the cause of the blaze which reached alarm Task Force Alpha.

A resident was injured during the blaze after reportedly being hit by a live electrical wire.

Fire Chief Inspector Ricardo Perdigon, Pasig City fire chief, meanwhile appealed to everyone to check their household electrical wiring. He said that this has lately been the cause of many fires.

Many of the displaced residents meanwhile were still on Malvar Street while preparations were still being undertaken for the evacuation center in the Barangay San Antonio basketball court.
