Package with shabu found at courier warehouse
MANILA – An Israel-bound package containing shabu was intercepted by the Ninoy-Aquino International Airport Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group (NAIA-IADITG) at the warehouse of an international express courier in Pasay City.
Duty officers of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Regional Office-National Capital Region Airport Interdiction Unit went to the warehouse on May 12 to verify reports.
The parcel was discovered by the Bureau of Customs officers around 1 p.m.
According to Undersecretary Arturo G. Cacdac, Jr., director general of the PDEA and NAIA-IADITG Task Group Commander, a sachet of the shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) was found concealed inside the heel of a men’s slipper.
"Samples of the seized white crystalline substance were subjected to qualitative examination and yielded positive results for the presence of shabu," said Cacdac.
The package was to be sent by Don Don Fernandez from Lumbang, Lipa City, Batangas to Moshie Koffman of No. 7 Petah Tikva, Israel.
