Cops discover 'hit-and-run' shabu lab in Manila
MANILA, Philippines - Police arrested Monday 2 foreigners for maintaining a "hit-and-run" shabu laboratory in Binondo district, Manila.
Superintendent Rogelio Rosales, Manila Police District (MPD) Station 11 chief, identified the arrested suspects as Taiwanese Liang Hung Hui and Hong Kong national Ko Kwon Ping.
Rosales said MPD Station 11 operatives arrested the suspects for possession of a sachet of shabu in front of their apartment along Aguilar Street.
"Sabi ng parking boy shabu laboratory daw itong bahay. Nakunan pa ng cell phone video," the station commander said.
He said the information prompted policemen to search the suspects' apartment, which led to the discovery ng shabu-making chemicals and laboratory equipment.
MPD police director, Chief Superintendent Rodolfo Magtibay said anti-narcotics operatives seized minimal volumes of phosphorous, ethanol and hydrochloric acid and laboratory equipment including flasks, blenders and a weighing scale.
Magtibay said that based on the items seized from the apartment, the 2 suspects were maintaining a "hit-and-run" shabu laboratory, which means the produce from the laboratory were minimal and immediately peddled in the streets.
"Hit-and-run. Maliit lang ang produce to avoid detection," he said. -- Report from Maan Macapagal, ABS-CBN News
