'Chiz' figures in car accident
MANILA, Philippines (1st UPDATE) – Senator Francis "Chiz" Escudero will undergo routine check-up after figuring in a car accident in Quezon City, Thursday night.
Judy Aquilar, Escudero's media relations officer, said that the senator was driving along E. Rodriguez Avenue in Cubao when a Kia van suddenly rammed the rear part of his Lexus.
The senator complained of minor pain on his right hand and right forehead. He was advised to take a rest.
Escudero, who had just attended a meeting before the incident, said he won't be filing a case against the owner of the Kia van since it was really an accident.
In a statement released earlier on Friday morning, Escudero's chief of staff, Roland Tan, said the senator did not suffer any injuries.
He said the senator was even able to call his staff to assist the passengers and the driver of the Kia van.
The passengers were rushed to St. Luke's Hospital in Quezon City.
Escudero even asked his team to "continues to monitor the condition of the passengers from the other vehicle."
Last month, Philippine Star celebrity columnist Ricky Lo reported that Escudero and his wife of 10 years, Elizabeth 'Tintin' Flores, are already separated.
The senator has refused to talk about his marital woes. - With report from DZMM
