MANILA, Philippines - Four workers died in an elevator crash at a construction site along West Avenue in Quezon City, Friday night.

Police identified the fatalities as Leo Viñas, Gilbert Teodoro, Joy Dellosa and Gabriel Rioso.

Police Officer 3 Joselito Chantengco of the Quezon City Police District Station 2 said the construction workers died after an elevator at the West Insular building along west Avenue, near EDSA, fell on them.

Chantengco said the elevator fell from the building's 22nd floor down to the ground floor, where the victims were working.

He said the elevator crashed after its foundation on the 18th floor collapsed.

He said a welder identified as Carlos Lanunan, who was also on the ground floor, was injured by the elevator's crash. -- Report from radio dzMM
