Swiss-Fil in coma after being hit by Tsinoy's car
MANILA, Philippines – A Swiss-Filipino is in critical condition after he was hit by a speeding vehicle in Puerto Princesa, Palawan.
Mark Frankhauser, 27, was on board his motorcycle when a white Subaru vehicle hit him at the corner of Valencia and Rizal avenues last May 26. A closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera captured the accident.
Mark slipped into a coma after suffering from internal hemorrhage.
The suspect, identified as Filipino-Chinese Jeremy Tan Pe, remains at large.
Pe, who comes from a family of businessmen in the province, is a known drag racing enthusiast.
Philippe Markhauser, Mark’s brother, fears that his family may not be able to get justice for his brother since Pe comes from an influential family in the province.
“Natatakot kami na wala pong mangyari sa kaso na ito dahil sa impluwensya nila (Pe family) at yaman nila,” Philippe said.
Mark is based in Switzerland and was only on a vacation in Puerto Princesa to visit his parents and help them in putting up a rubber plantation. – report from Jay Ruiz, ABS-CBN News
