MANILA – A Filipino who was supposed to leave for Saudi Arabia today passed out at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1.

Lumanggal Sabirin Apad, a 33-year-old Dasmariñas, Cavite resident, collapsed while entering the departure area of NAIA 1 at around 9 a.m.

Apad, who works as a cook in Saudi Arabia, hit his head on a metal railing after he collapsed.

Airport security personnel and a fellow overseas Filipino worker responded to the incident and called for assistance from airport clinic personnel.

Airport doctor Antonio Garcia said Apad's vital signs and sugar level were normal.

When he gained consciousness, Apad said he felt dizzy before entering the departure area. He said it was his first time to pass out, and that he has not been diagnosed with any illness lately.

Garcia, meanwhile, said Apad might have passed out due to stress. He said Apad had lost his wallet and was also feeling warm inside the airport.

Apad was eventually cleared by doctors to board his 10:45 a.m. Cathay Pacific flight. - with a report from Dexter Ganibe, dzMM
