MANILA - A Chinese national was rescued by police authorities from kidnappers in Pasay City on Sunday.

The Pasay City police identified the foreigner as Shang Pang Wa, 34, who was rescued from Queensland hotel along F.B. Harrison Street.

According to Supt. Florencio Renz Ortilla, chief of Pasay City police, the Chinese national was brought to different hotels by his abductors.

At around 8 a.m. on Sunday, a text from the kidnappers was received by Joanne Bautista, the victim's friend, who, in turn, sought help from the police.

The authorities arrested the suspects identified as Richard Eloriaga, Christoper Esperat, Roel Fausto and Chinese national Daniel Ren.

The suspects said they were tasked to keep an eye on the victim by a Chinese national who Shang allegedly owes money to. --report from Eric Dastas, DZMM
