Malaysian caught with 10 kilos of shabu at NAIA
MANILA, Philippines - Customs personnel arrested Wednesday a Malaysian national who was caught with 10 kilos of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu in his luggage upon arrival at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 2.
Customs Collector Atty. Romulo Mahor identified the suspect as How Eng Pheong, 41, who arrived from Bangkok, Thailand onboard a Philippine Airlines flight.
Mahor said the suspect was carrying a single trolley bag when he passed through the examination lane of Customs Collector Manuel Mendoza.
He said Mendoza emptied the bag of its contents but was surprised when it remained heavy. Further inspection showed that the bag had a separate partition that contained a package containing the illegal substance.
Police arrested How after tests showed that package indeed contained drugs.
Charges of violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against the Malaysian before the Pasay Prosecutors Office.
