MANILA, Philippines - Police said Friday that the woman who died after falling from the Shangri-La Plaza mall's 6th floor committed suicide.

Superintendent Roseller Sta. Maria, deputy chief of the Mandaluyong City police, said a British national saw Dr. Mary Ann Magtoto jump from the 6th floor.

Sta. Maria said the foreigner said in his sworn statement that he saw Magtoto climb the escalator's railing before jumping off.

Magtoto landed on the 2nd floor face down at round 3:50 p.m. Thursday. She was rushed to the Medical City but was declared dead on arrival at around 4:20 p.m.. – Report from Alex Santos, ABS-CBN News
