Classes suspended in Parañaque due to rains
Other schools suspend classes too
MANILA, Philippines – Parañaque City and several schools announced the suspension of classes Tuesday morning due to the overnight downpour that left parts of Metro Manila and some Luzon provinces submerged in floods.
Parañaque Mayor Jun Bernabe said the suspension covers classes in all levels (preschool to high school), both private and public schools in the city.
Other schools that suspended their classes were:
- Jose Abad Santos Memorial School – Manila
- Eton International School – Quezon City
- Karuhatan Elementary School – Valenzuala
- Karuhatan National High School – Valenzuela
- Flora Ilagan High School - Quezon City
PAGASA, in its latest weather bulletin issued at 5 a.m., said the rains experienced in Metro Manila and parts of Luzon were brought by a low pressure area (LPA) spotted 30 kilometers north of Ambulong, Batangas as of 2 a.m.
PAGASA forecaster Ricky Fabregas said southern and central Luzon including Metro Manila will still experience rains from this weather system today.
Fabregas said the LPA was moving slowly in a northwest direction. It is expected to be over the West Philippine Sea by Wednesday where it will eventually dissipate.
PAGASA warned residents living in low-lying areas and along mountain slopes to be alert for possible occurrence of flashfloods and landslides.
