The Department of Health has lifted its suspension order on Samuya Food Manufacturing Corporation months after closing the firm for failing health safety standards, radio dzMM reported Friday.
Samuya president Gonzalo Tianzon said the suspension order was lifted after the company complied with all food safety requirements set by the Bureau of Food and Drugs (BFAD).
"The suspension order was lifted on Thursday (July 2). We will no longer be supplying old stock but will produce new stock under the strict monitoring of BFAD," Tianzon told radio dzMM.
Samuya products including Ludy's coco jam and peanut butter spread were taken off store shelves last March after the BFAD found the products contaminated with Salmonella.
Products earlier recalled by BFAD were Mama Peanut Spread Sweet and Creamy; Ludy's Coco Jam Special; Ludy's Coco Jam with Langka; Mama Coco Jam; Ludy's Coco Jam Regular; Ludy's Coco Jam with Peanut, Sunny Cheers Peanut Butter, Ludy's Sweet and Creamy Peanut Butter and Yummy Sweet and Creamy Peanut Butter, for the same reason.
The BFAD also reprimanded the company for unhealthy food manufacturing practices.
