Police seized P2.1 million worth of fake bills from six members of a money counterfeiting syndicate in a raid in Las Piñas City, Wednesday morning.

Chief Superintendent Roberto Rosales, Metro Manila police chief, identified the arrested suspects as Francis Sescon, Bernardo Cruz, Leoner Sadoral, Jhon Caparuto, Alfredo Argao and Antonio Laurente.

Rosales said that before the raid, the Manila Police District arrested Cruz for using a fake P1,000 bill as payment in an eatery. The suspect yielded three more counterfeit P1,000 bills.

He said that Cruz told police the source of the fake bills during an interrogation and led operatives to a safehouse in Las Piñas. He said he bought the fake P1,000 bills for P300 each.

The other suspects were arrested during the raid. Seized during the raid was a silver attaché case containing 16 bundles of fake bills worth P2.1 million, the police director said.

Charges for violation of Article 166 of the Revised Penal Code for proliferation and possession of fake Philippine money will be filed against the suspects.
