MANILA, Philippines – A passenger bus caught fire on the northbound lane of EDSA-Ortigas Wednesday night.

The bus driver said he didn’t even notice that the back of the bus was on fire and was only notified by a taxi driver.

The bus was empty when it caught fire.

However, the driver said he had to wait for firefighters because the bus’ fire extinguisher had been stolen.

He suspects that the bus’ faulty airconditioning system caused the fire, as it malfunctioned while passing through Makati.

Traffic enforcers of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, meanwhile, immediately responded to the scene to help ease traffic in the area.

No one was reported hurt in the incident. -- Report from Jacque Manabat, ABS-CBN News
