MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine National Poilce (PNP) will deploy 4,500 policemen to secure the Batasan Pambansa during the State of the Nation Address (SONA) on July 26.
The PNP said 4,500 Civil Distrubance Management personnel will be deployed along the stretch of Batasan Road from Commonwealth Avenue to the Batasan Pambansa gate on the day of the SONA.
Quezon City Police Disdtrict (QCPD) director Police Chief Superintendent Benjardi Mantele said protesters won't be allowed directly in front of the gate of the complex to allow free access to the Batasan Pambansa.
Mantele, however, said they don’t anticpate a significant security threat since they will be holding a dialogue on Wednesday with the different groups who will have protests on SONA day.
He called on protesters to make their activities orderly and allow the President to make his speech in an orderly fashion.
Mantele and his colleagues arrived at the Batasan Monday to inspect the perimeter. Earlier, Batasan Security went around the area to check on the security of the complex.
